Born in Tokyo. After leaving school she learned design under Masato Takahashi and had been working as a designer for some years preparing leaflets for a music school, through which she gradually became interested in illustrations for children.
Started writing juvenile stories from around 1966 in a group studying juvenile stories under Teruo Teramura and Seiji Horio. Issued her first title °∆OTO 2 NO EHON°« from Ikada-sha in 1973. Her book °∆TORIKAEKKO°« with the illustrations by Eigoro Futamata won the first Ehon Nippon Sho in 1978.
